I designed the visual user interface and icon for the iPhone application Emoji Enabler. The application needed a simple but user friendly interface from which to enable the use of Emoji icons on their device.
The linen texture was inspired by recent developments in the official Apple iOS theme and also a trend towards this kind of texture being used in the new OS X ‘Lion’. The icon aimed to present a grid of four Emoji Icons in the simplest but most characteristic form possible. Whilst a minimalistic grey-gloss square was considered, we agreed that we’d try a ‘wooden shelf’ approach.
